TxDMV: Temporary Vehicle Title & Registration Waiver To End In April

In a recent press release, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles announced that the temporary waiver of some vehicle title and registration requirements, whic was initially announced in March 2020 by Governor Greg Abbott in response to COVID-19, will expire at 11:59 pm on April 14, 2021.

The temporary waiver covers the following services:

• Initial vehicle registration
   
• Vehicle registration renewal
   
• Vehicle titling
   
• Renewal of permanent disabled parking placards
   
• 30-day temporary permits

TxDMV reminds Texans to: 1) obtain a passing vehicle inspection (unless exempt) prior to renewing registration, and 2) complete overdue transactions as soon as possible ahead of the April 14th deadline.

Vehicle registration may be renewed online, by mail or in person. Additional information and instructions on the renewal process can be found in the press release issued by the TxDMV (February 12, 2021).
