According to a press release issued this week by the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation, some TDLR licensees may have been targeted in a recent phishing scam.
For those independent auto dealers who own a tow truck or have their own administrator of a service contract provider, you know you are licensed under TDLR. Below are the details of the latest scam and how you can protect yourself.
According to the press release:
“Recipients are falsely told that TDLR is requiring all licensees to validate their information no later than Dec. 24, 2020, or their next license renewal could be delayed. TDLR sent no such email.”
The email appears to come from TDLR, but the return email does not belong to the agency. TDLR is advising anyone who received the email to not click on the link.
