Recapping the 2022 TIADA Conference and Expo

The 2022 TIADA Conference and Expo was the largest in association history, building off the success of the 2021 Conference. Over 320 dealers attended the event, which again took place at the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock, from July 24-26 this year. The event was highlighted by a packed educational agenda, some upgrades to the agenda, and several heartfelt moments at the Awards Banquet on Tuesday night.

Dealer-Driven Education and Some Memorable Events

The Conference officially kicked off with the Welcome Reception, which demonstrated just how lively and engaged this year's event would promise to be.

On Monday, the Opening General Session featured dealer Chad Randash and master magician Armando Lucero, who amazed the audience with their illusions and had some insightful conversations about magic and the independent automobile dealer industry.

Following this keynote address, the educational sessions on Monday morning featured several presentations on BHPH best practices, compliance, management, special finance and retail, marketing, and emerging technologies in the industry. The midday schedule gave attendees an opportunity to visit the exhibition hall, where they were able to meet and have lunch with the many exhibitors and speak with the morning's presenters in a more casual environment. In the afternoon, dealers grouped together for revamped discussions at the dealer-driven roundtable sessions. These conversations grouped together similar dealers and were moderated by some of the best in the business.

The final day of the Conference included another round of educational sessions and a keynote address at the Closing General Session that featured Tom Carter, Senior Attorney with the Federal Trade Commission. Mr. Carter presented invaluable insights about the FTC's Safeguards Rule and the Used Car Rule. The session was followed by a Q&A session in which dealers asked him questions and expressed their concerns about this year's updates to the Safeguards Rule. He also plugged TIADA's Safeguards Course, which was designed to help dealers fulfill the educational requirement for the updated rule.

In the evening, the Awards Ceremony was filled with heartfelt moments. TIADA awarded several dealers and other leaders in and around the industry.

The next conference will be held from July 23-25, 2023, at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort in San Antonio, so save the date and stay tuned for further details and information.
