Representative Trent Ashby Speaks with Dealers in Lufkin

TIADA hosted State Representative Trent Ashby on January 11, 2022. Organizing these events with local and state legislators is one of the most important things we do as an association. We count Representative Ashby among the many leaders who have taken the time to speak directly with independent automobile dealers throughout the state.

We had three board members, including TIADA President Mark Jones, spend a little over two hours with the dealers in Lufkin. This just makes us a better association, and it's a great opportunity for our leaders to hear from the dealers in East Texas. It also ensures we are representing their needs. Representative Ashby represents District 57, which is comprised of Angelina, Houston, Leon, Madison, San Augustine, and Trinity Counties.

Wayne Cook, of Salty's Auto Sales and Lufkin Dealers Auto Auction, was in attendance. “We are lucky to have a young guy of Trent Ashby's caliber who works as hard as he does,” Wayne said. “The fact that he's on some key committees and has his ear to his constituents and listens to what they say, we're really fortunate to have someone like that representing us.”

Wayne also told us how much he appreciates TIADA's presence in Lufkin. “There are a lot of dealers here who aren't members of the association. I know TIADA works diligently to protect dealers in the industry, and I'm left with the impression that many new dealers are interested in becoming members.”

PassTime GPS also attended the town hall as an I.D.E.A sponsor (more information on this program here).  “As part of PassTime's longstanding commitment to supporting its customers and the industry, especially regarding legislative and compliance-related efforts, it has been a proud sponsor of TIADA's I.D.E.A. program,” said Pablo Ruiz, Regional Sales Manager at PassTime. “The program provides a platform and opportunity to work with state representatives, like Representative Ashby, to address issues affecting its customers and ways to implement positive change. TIADA continues to show how dedicated it is to its members and the industry, and PassTime is proud to support those efforts.”

TIADA will continue to organize events in the state and advocate for independent automobile dealers. If you have any questions about our efforts at the Capitol, please do not hesitate to reach out to our office.
