TxDMV Rolls Out New ID Rules: Here’s What It Means for Your Dealership

New ID requirements now in effect

TxDMV has announced immediate changes to the identification required for motor vehicle registrations and renewals. Applicants must now provide a valid, unexpired photo ID, with specific documents required depending on the type of registration.

Special registrations — like IRP, temporary permits, agricultural permits, and out-of-state military — allow a wider range of IDs, while standard registrations require a state-issued driver license/ID, qualifying passport, or Texas License to Carry.

Online renewals through Texas-by-Texas will continue to verify identity automatically for Texas driver license holders.

A New Chapter for TIADA: Welcoming Executive Director Trevor Jennings

TIADA Welcomes Our New Executive Director: Trevor Jennings

    Welcome Trevor Jennings

TIADA officially welcomes our new Executive Director, Trevor Jennings, on December 1st. The staff and board are incredibly excited to have him join our team!

Trevor is already familiar with TIADA, having previously provided marketing assistance to the staff years ago as a Product Development Specialist with MultiView. Most recently, he served as Director of Partner Relations with the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA), where he worked closely with dealers and partner organizations to strengthen member programs and expand outreach initiatives.

During his time with NMEDA, Trevor served as the organization’s representative at national events, cultivating partnerships and building coalitions to advance policy goals and awareness for members. His cross-departmental leadership spanned Membership, Government Affairs, Communications, and Technology, where he focused on recruiting new members, overseeing a national awareness campaign, and spearheading an AI tools project for members and staff.

Trevor brings more than a decade of association leadership experience focused on member engagement, program development, and organizational support. “I am honored to join TIADA and to serve the independent dealers of Texas,” Jennings said. “I look forward to working alongside the Board, staff, and members to continue strengthening our community and advancing the association’s mission.”

Trevor, his wife Megan, and young son Miles will be relocating to Austin within the next few months. This move coincides with another exciting new beginning: they will welcome their second son in January!

Please join the Board and staff in warmly welcoming Trevor and his family to the TIADA community as we continue our mission of supporting independent dealers across Texas.
