The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has amended its Gramm-Leach Bliley Safeguards Rule, requiring covered companies to report certain data breaches and security events. These changes took effect on May 13, 2024, after a six-month grace period to allow businesses time to prepare.

Texas automobile dealers are gearing up for significant changes to how they issue temporary tags and process vehicle titles and registrations. TIADA is urging dealers to stay informed and prepare for these upcoming shifts. The association held a dealer town hall on April 30, 2024, in Austin. TxDMV brought several of its senior leadership, including Executive Director Daniel Avitia, and several Tax Assessor-Collectors attended to share their insights. Perhaps most importantly, TxDMV provided a comprehensive timeline for the transition from paper temporary tags to metal plates.
