Last week, the Texas House Transportation Committee met in Brownsville. I took this opportunity to make stops along the way and visit with independent dealers I don’t usually get a chance to talk to. The normal six-hour trip turned into a 15-hour adventure, and it was worth every minute.

Dealers are increasingly threatened by fraud, and perpetrators have been developing complex operations to commit these crimes. It is more important than ever for dealers to protect themselves against fraud. Sergeant Darren Schlosser, who leads the Vehicle Fraud Unit with the Houston Police Department, strongly encourages dealers to utilize ID Scanning Devices and incorporate them into their everyday operations.
